Do cats get muscle cramps?

yesterday my cat did the weirdest thing. As me and my husband sat on our couch my cat Tiger jumped on the seat right next to me so he can be close to me. As he landed on the seat he right away started freakin out. He jumped off immediately and began rushing around the apartment. The very weird thing is he was doing it backwards. He finally stopped once he backed up into some furniture. I went to him and I got down on one knee to talk to him. He began making the crying noise like he was in pain. I noticed he wasn't putting any weight on one of his legs. So I picked him up and me and my husband inspected his foot and leg. When we touched the musle on his leg we noticed he slightly made a twitch. We rubbed it for a sec. Then I put him down on the floor and had him walk to my husband. He did it with no problem. Do you think maybe he just got a muscle cramp or something of that sort? He is about 11-12 years old. Never had any health problems. He is an indoor kitty.

Anything that has muscles can get muscle cramps. I'm guessing that's what happened with your cat, though since he's getting "up there" in age he could have landed wrong and "popped" a joint painfully (like you pop your knuckles). I suppose if he doesn't have any other problems, don't worry about it. But if it persists, ask your vet.
