Can I do two types of martial arts at the same time?

I want to do tea kwan do and ju jutsu. Can i do bothe of them at the same time? Or will it be too confusing? Is it possible to mix the techniques up?

With those two, you should be able to do both at the same time. I would suggest starting one first, then adding the other after a while to keep from over exerting your self at the beginning.

How to Become a Mixed Martial Artist : Types of Martial Arts Used in Mixed Martial Arts

how many types of martial arts are there?

whats the difference between each martial art, which one is most practised, which one is the toughest, countries they originated, where to practise, how long to practise, initial requirements etc

There are far too many to list, you could never possibly list them all without failing to mention at least one particular discipline.

and there're many different disciplines throughout the different countries ranging from India, Japan, China, Thailand, the Phillippines, the United States, Brazil, Russia, Israel. So whereevr you may live, there should be a class from a school that can teach you in a proper manner to defend yourself.

the requirements for study and time varry from discipline to discipline as well from school to school or organization to organization that governs the different schools, so there is no set time or amount of study to meet the standards of all disciplines.

the differences between the disciplines lie in the training, utilization of punching techniques, kicking techniques, forms or Katas

there is NOT one discipline that is tougher than another, there are however disciplines that're more aggressive but not tougher.

there are Hybrid disciplines that combine the fighting techniques or fighting philosophies of two or more disciplines a few examples of this are Hapkido, Kajukenbo, and Jeet Kune Do.

there're also many types that're reality based, or techniques that've been culled from disciplines to use in reality based fighting.

the only thing I can tell you, is to research the disciplines that YOU find interesting and make your decision as to which discipline you might choose to study, and find a school that will help you become the BEST Martial Artist that YOU can become.

There is NO best Martial Art, only the individual that studies his or her discipline and continues to improve on their techniques can become a good or well rounded fighter.

What are the different types of martial arts?

I want to take some form of martial arts but i was wondering what are the differences between them and what exactly is involved and covered under each type? Thanks!

Well there are many of them, some concentrates on kicking, other does both kicking and punching, then you have the ones that does throws, some do grappling. Some martial arts is very practical, some are not. So it depends on your goal.

Are you doing this for self defense? Then the best ones would be, Krav Maga. This is a discipline crafted out of a combination of different arts and created by the Israeli strictly for self defense. There's no beauty in it, the movements are geared for practical day to day combat situation. No rules, just flat out hurt the opponent, and put him out of commission

Are you doing this to compete? Do you like full contact or not? Karate, Muay Thai, kick boxing, Savate, boxing , all offers full contact tournaments.

All of traditional martial arts fall into 2 big categories, disciplines that primarily relies on strikes and those that relies on grappling.

Striking disciplines are those like Karate, Tae Kwan Do, Wu Shu, Wing Chun, Muay Thai, Silat, Capoeira, Boxing etc.

Grappling includes, wrestling, Judo, Ai Ki Do, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, Jiu Jitsu, etc.

Then you have those, like Tai Chi and Qigong, that is primarily used for health. They are still martial arts, and if you learn it properly you can use it for fighting. But they're not very practical, you can't take a Tai Chi class for a month and hope to use it to fight.

Martial Arts Stretches : Types of Martial Arts Stretches

What different types of martial arts are there?

There's about six different types of fighting ranges. They are: Throwing range, weapon range, leg striking range, hand striking range, grappling/throwing range, and ground-grappling.

As for the number of arts that encompass all of those: Hundreds of thousands. There's new ones being made every year, and of the probably at least 10,000 base martial arts: There's between one and 1000 different variations for each. It's endless. Here some I will name, and this isn't even a fraction of them all:

Karate, Kung Fu, Tae Kwon Do, Muay Thai, Jujutsu, Iaido, Kenjutsu, Judo, Taijitsu/To Shin Do/Bujinkan/Budo/Nipo (AKA "Ninjutsu"), systema, sambo, Yaw Yan, Shuai Chiao, Wing Chun, Hapkido, Kyukido, Kobudo, Kail, Escrima, Capoeira, BJJ/GJJ, Pankration, Chun Kuk Do, Hwar Do, Kuk Sool Won, TaeKyon Yong Chul Do, Aikido, Kempo, Boxing, Kickboxing (Muay Thai and Yaw Yan are in a world of their own).....

Of those styles, there's various sub-styles within them. That's still just a fraction.

What different types of martial arts exist? Which one is the best?

I'm taking Taekwondo right now

I don't think there is a 'best' martial art. What's best for you may not be best for somebody else. There are few that do stand out and have been proven in the cage over and over. You know what those are; BJJ, Muay Thai, Wrestling. Those work best in the cage and in a fair fight.

Some martial arts like Krav Maga train for crazy street situations and that might be better for that type of life and death scenario.

Besides the style, it depends a lot on the school and the instructor. If the instructor understand real combat and how to prepare people for it, then the style is secondary.

Primarily it depends on the individual. Are you short and stocky? Tall and lean? Different styles favor different individual attributes.

Taekwando Tournament Training Tips : Training for Taekwando Martial Arts Competitions

Martial Arts Academy for the Different Styles and Forms of Martial Arts

There are many types of martial arts that are practiced the world over. As each of these has different moves it is best if you learn your chosen branch of martial arts from a qualified instructor. To help you with the learning process of martial arts you can enroll in a martial arts academy. Here you will be provided with the opportunity of learning different styles and forms of martial arts.

In the martial arts academy you will be taught different techniques and weapons use so that you have an all round knowledge and experience of various types of martial arts. With the help of your instructors you can make sure that your martial arts training progresses at a rate that your body will find acceptable. You will be shown the right body movements so that you don’t get seriously.

There are some instances when a martial arts academy is geared towards teaching one type of training. For this reason it is in your best interest to decide which martial arts form you want to learn. Once you have made this decision you will need to see which of the academies in your area will have the ability to train you.

There is one item that you will need to remember when you are beginning your training at the martial arts academy. This fact is that some of the classes might be full due to the popularity of the martial arts. This popularity can be accounted for in many ways. At the moment some of the martial arts like Kung Fu, Karate and Judo are considered as being more popular than others.

While you can learn various forms of martial arts from the dojos there is still yet another way to learn. This form of learning comes from seeing how the other students do their various moves. You will find that mini competitions which are part of the training exercise in the martial arts academy will provide you with this opportunity of gaining more experience.

This is one aspect of learning martial arts. You can also ask questions from the instructors and other students at the academy for help in doing certain moves and steps. One of the great things which you will find in a martial arts academy is that you are allowed to develop your talents by seeing how other students avoid common martial arts mistakes. A martial arts academy is therefore the perfect place for you to hone your abilities under the auspices of a knowledgeable martial arts instructor.
