In fact befor the 15th century almost every sword made in europe where "staright balde" swords, the ones used during the reanissance where not so staright and som of them where thinner.
The ones we see in the video game come from renaissance replicas, expecting for the so called Hidden blade or Extension Knife which was invented untill 17th Century.
