Kung Fu What are a few types of kung fu that are good for internal developement?
I want to learn a style of kung fu that is good for internal development. Like Tai Chi or bagua. I know about both of these, but I want to know what types would be best. post any answer, I want lots of suggestions. Also I already take 5 animal 5 element kung fu and I am very small for my age.
The Internal Arts are the ones mentioned and there is also Liu He Ba Fa, Fujian White Crane Fist and from Okinawa they are the arts that derive from Naha Te.
So you study Hung Ga? If so, included is an Internal Form called Tiet Sin Kuen - Iron Wire Fist set.
There is also an art called Yiquan, which is a very powerful Internal style based on Zhan Zhuang - Stance Practice and Push Hands. It is derived from Hsing Yi.

How many lessons does it take to defend yourself with kung fu in a fight?
I just want know some knowledge about kung fu and this is one of the question I couldn't find on the web.
Kung Fu, REAL Kung Fu, as the gentleman above me mentioned, takes years to get even barely good. And as the other person above me mentioned, Muay Thai can get you somewhat "street ready" within a few weeks. Having done both, I can honestly say Muay Thai is a lot easier to learn. It focuses on brute strength, meeting the attacker head on, shin on shin, fist on fist, and requires a lot of courage.
Kung Fu on the other hand, requires finesse. It requires a sort of precision and muscle memory and relaxation that can take years to develop. Which doesn't mean it's easier to train for, on the contrary in fact. Basic stances have to be done over and over again. Basic movements and forms have to be repeated to the point of fanaticism. Every part of your body has to be conditioned. And I mean EVERY part: ankles, every knuckle (check out leopard fist: done with a half closed fist), every toe, your forearms and shins, your heels, the balls of your foot, your finger tips (for snake stance stabbing), your wrists, etc. And this isn't even covering the internal part of it: the channeling of qi and the internal strikes.
So is it worth it?
If you want short term power, and immediate gains in your ability to defend yourself, take Muay Thai. It develops courage, and brute strength. It will make you a monster.
But I've always felt that Muay Thai, like boxing in a sense, doesn't cover a lot of different ways of fighting. Just like boxing neglects kicking as a viable way of fighting, Muay Thai does not cover the ways of finger striking, joint manipulation, and ground fighting.
But to get to that stage, will take you many, many years. And if you're not willing to invest in this, forget Kung Fu. But if you do decide to commit, and you do decide to learn Kung Fu, and you do get to the stage of even proficiency, you will make many important parts of other fighting styles completely "obsolete." Boxers will have their legs kicked out. Muay Thai clinches will only put you in range for your advanced snake stance strikes such as finger stabs between the ribs and into the kidney/liver. Brazilian Jiu Jitsu fighters will get you on the ground, but suddenly find their adam's apple ripped out through tiger claw, their eyes stabbed by snake style, or their wrists and ankles broken through Chin Na.
This a decision you'll have to make on your own. But don't just listen to my own biased view, read the other answers and make this huge decision based on your own choices.

Just curious because kids in my class today said " I hate in the KARATE kid commercial the guy says I will teach you real KUNG FU" like is there a difference? Or is one for peacefullness and one for fighting or what?
Karate, kung fu, and taekwondo are three different arts from three different countries. A lot of people dislike the upcoming Karate Kid movie because there is no karate in it. Instead, the movie focuses on a kid learning kung fu, while trying to take advantage of the Karate Kid franchise.

i want to start kung fu and start it seriously. I'm 15 and was wondering how can i be sure a class is good and can it be good if its just once a week in a group. Is there any private lessons, are they better? i would like to train at least 2 times a week.
also how do know if an instructor is good?
Well just google te Kung Fu schools in ur area and visit them and talk with the sifu. Watch out for the schools that use a belt system. Kung Fu doesnt use a belt system. See how long the school has been open for. If theres a Chinatown near u then id checkout the Kung Fu schools there. A good sifu will not let u slack off in class and hell push u to succeed in class. What is the least requirement to work as a kung fu trainer?
We know in modern kung fu coloured belts are given.Starts with white & ends with black (the 9th one).Now what could be the least requirement to get a job as a kung fu trainer?Please tell me about the requirements for junior section too
The honest truth is that there are no real requirements to work as a kung fu trainer. There is no real sanctioning board. Anyone with enough money can open a school. Thats why it is important for prospective students to take a really good look at the teacher's credentials and lineage. I you mean working as a kung fu trainer and someone else's school, there is pretty much close to 0% chance of that happening and most schools will look to inside help from their own student body first.
I've just recently started taking kung fu lessons 3 times a week. And I need to know what kind of shoes are good for this type of thing. I need something flexible, light weight, durable, preferabley flat soul, nothing too expensive or flashy, good grip(good enough to keep my balance on fast one foot motions but not enough that I can't turn fast on the ball of my foot) and most importantly comfortable. Any ideas?
Kung fu shoes are great for wing chun and such. But if your style involves more pivoting and movement or acrobatic techniques, then these shoes will fly of your feet like a greased pig with wings. Feiyue shoes are the best overall shoes for indoor kung fu training: light, cheap, great traction, and stay on your feet. These are the choice brand for most martial arts schools in China. In fact they are the same brand that the Shaolin monks use. If however you are going to do any training outside on concrete and such, then I would recommend something more durable like Adidas Samba indoor soccer shoes. This are made of strong leather and the soles hold up longer on rough concrete.

Kung Fu Useless why do many people hate contemporary Wushu?
Let me tell you why....I have lived in China, Hong Kong, and Taiwan from 1991-2000 (with short visits to the USA). Contemporry Wushu is NOT Kung Fu. These froms were made in the 1950's&1960's. They do not exist in Hong Kong or Taiwan unless an outsider breings them in. It is flashy, useless, running, jumping, body slapping nonsense....Real Kung Fu teachers from Hong Kong and Taiwan (Republic of China) consider it trash. Many wushu people are talented and desrve respect but I hope they will reurn to real Kung Fu, if a form has fast running steps, then it is wushu, don't practice that junk. I am a teacher of Praying Mantis the old forms not wushu, i know some wushu and don't like it. Traditional kung fu helps in a real fight better than runny, slappy wushu...the only awesome "wushu" style is sanshou which was around before contemporary wushu....I hope more martial artists will embrace the real true forms...
I know little of wushu, but my guess would be a combination of ignorance of the haters, and improper training of the practioners
